The redevelopment and expansion project for the Argenta Hospital fits into the existing healthcare area, placing its compact volume within the park. Permeability with the surrounding greenery characterizes the facades, compatible with the principle of organizing all needed functions separately. A tripartite floor plan organizes the two above-ground floors and the basement, topped by a walkable roof where a large lantern captures light and directs it into the building’s vast central section. On the two longitudinal fronts, the compactness of the building block is softened by the surface treatment, featuring varying rhythms and chiaroscuro effects created by the adjustable vertical wooden sunshades.
