The fundamental themes of this project lie in the tight bond between the building’s history and its current life: the creation of a path dedicated to artworks, the history of the architecture that houses them, and the institution that has always operated within these walls since its inception.
The primary goal is to provide public access to the imposing cultural, artistic, and archival heritage preserved within the Institute, as well as allow the daily activities and initiatives held there.
The project addresses multiple requirements simultaneously, such as accessibility, through several key interventions: a new entrance on the monumental Piazza della Santissima Annunziata, the reclamation of an unused basement level, and a new system of stairs and elevators connecting all floors.
The innovative exhibition system for the Children’s Museum enhances both the centuries-old art collection and Brunelleschi’s architectural masterpiece. Additionally, the project provides an extension at the top floor for the use of the panoramic Verone loggia with a new, fully retractable glass volume for a café, while reorganizing the reception services, conference rooms, and educational spaces for the entire complex.
